Vision
Expression
Reclamation
Hi, I’m Lisa Ellul
Welcome to LAIX, a space where I escape the ordinary, one pixel at a time.
My work is born from my own journey: from struggle to discovery, navigating a system never designed for me to thrive. Like so many Black women, I turned to self-healing through love, sisterhood, and the beauty of Blackness in all its forms, rising toward ascension, actualisation, and empowerment.
As a visual child, I saw and felt the world through colour and stillness, quietly imagining ways to make something new.” Obsessed with interiors and fashion. From sewing bold Kente-print suits to transforming my bedroom into a portal of imagination, I explored identity and expression before I could fully articulate it. The soundscape of 80s Afro-hip hop from Afrika Bambaataa to Monie Love shaped my sense of resistance and style.
My creative study became a journey into the self, revisiting a vibrant Caribbean childhood while confronting the silences and secrets passed through generations. Through this process, pain became power, and memory became liberation.
I became my own teacher, a self-taught artist carrying my vision into painting, interiors, events, and now the digital landscapes. My art is more than creation; it is rebellion, healing, and prophecy.
My instinct to create and shape space is innate. It is both my survival and my offering.
I invite you to witness, feel, and join this journey of art, healing, and empowerment. Together, we rise.
Much love,
Lisa Ellul
